The new feature introduced in V2.0, export file list and export editor, is a powerful tool to manage the found file list.
Let's look over how the export feature works.
For novice user, the exporting is very easy to use. For advanced user, it is very powerful to design the export format by yourself.

Novice user
Just click menu 'Tools' then 'Export...', a wizard will show to help you to accomplish the exporting step by step.

Step 1, select an export format. You can select from 6 predefined format including CSV (Comma Separated Values), XML, plain text, HTML, M3U and PLS. M3U and PLS are very popular play list format used in WinAmp, Real media, and Windows Media player.

Step 2, select which files to export. You can choose to only export the selected files, or all files in current file list, or even all files in all file lists in all duplicate groups.

Step 3, select the destination file to store the export result. FileCake even support exporting to an internal text editor so you can preview and edit the export result before save it to file.

Advanced user
For advanced user, not only can you export file list to the predefined 6 formats, but you can also design your own formats.

The design is simple than you thought.
FileCake provides an export editor to help you to create your own export format. The editor is powerful but very easy to use.
You can just click on a pattern then it will be inserted and you can see the result immediately.

One of the most important reason you need to create your own format is to batch process files.
For example, you want to rename your favorite MP3 files name to a form like artist-title.mp3, so you can create an export format with following content,
ren -.
then export your MP3 file list to a MS-DOS Batch File, eg, rename.bat, then run it, all your MP3 files will be renamed.
Unlike many other batch file process programs which you can't control how they work, FileCake exports the batch file in a plain text file so you can view and edit it if necessary. For example, if a MP3 file lacks the artist informat, you can input it in the batch file by hand.
